Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and his wife Nadine have been indicted on bribery charges, Justice Department officials announced, detailing what officials said was a corrupt scheme involving gold bars, stacks of cash and using the senator's powerful position to secretly benefit the Egyptian government. TWA Flight 3 was a twin-engine Douglas DC-3-382 propliner on a scheduled domestic passenger flight from New York, New York, to Burbank, California, in the United States, with stopovers Las Vegas, Nevada. On January 16, 1942 at 19:20 PST, fifteen minutes after takeoff from Las Vegas Airport bound for Burbank, the aircraft crashed into a sheer cliff on Potosi Mountain, 32 miles southwest of the airport, at an elevation of 7,770. All 22 people on board, including movie star Carole Lombard, her mother, and th Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) relaxed the dress code for U.S. senators (but not their employees) so that notorious slob John Fetterman (D., Pa.) can wear hoodies and basketball shorts to work. The perfect gift for friends, family, maybe even members of your wedding party, a deck of playing cards with a nice photo to fit the occasion. This was taken in 2023 of me with my daughter Annie at a pizza place in Ocean Springs, Mississippi where we went to visit friends.
People still use typewriters today, usually in an office setting, perhaps to fill in pre-printed forms or to address an envelope. The QWERTY keyboard is used even on computers today - not because it is the most efficient pattern, but because it is the pattern everyone knows. A secretary from 1900 magically appearing today could easily type on a computer today. While the brandy old fashioned might be Wisconsin’s unofficial state cocktail—it even has its own month of celebration, September—the brandy slush is the state’s year-round party drink. Americans never accepted the verdict that Oswald shot the president or that he acted alone. Opinion polls suggest that more than two-thirds of Americans still believe Oswald was not the assassin or that a conspiracy of some kind was behind the assassination.
Union officers led their troops directly at the Confederate line, a path that took them down into the 30-foot hole. Once in this hole, the Union soldiers found it extremely difficult to climb up 30 feet of loose soil to reach the enemy line. Dazed Confederate troops regained their composure and rushed to the breech to stop the Union advance. It became a turkey shoot. Union soldiers desperately trying to scramble out of the hole were slaughtered by Confederates firing down on them, 3800 were killed. On December 21, 1866, an Indian war party attacked on a wagon train returning to Fort Phil Kearney. Captain Fetterman and 80 calvarymen went out to help, but were decoyed by a party of warriors northward and into a rehearsed ambush planned by Chief Red Cloud. In half an hour, the Indian warriors annihilated the force to the last man. Custer's account of Monahsetah suggests, but doesn't confirm, erotic episodes between the lieutenant colonel and the Cheyenne woman whose name means ''Young Grass That Shoots in Spring.'' Libbie Custer, whose loving union with George is part of Western legend, pretty plainly knew about the extramarital affair, according to her own writings.
