The closest
thing to a new J-4 Cub on the market!
What a great find for the Light Sport pilot!
The
Piper J-4 Cub Coupe is a two-place side-by-side version of the Piper
J-3 that was built between 1939 and 1941 by Piper Aircraft. The J-4
has a Continental A50, with up exhaust, an open cowl, oil and spring
landing gear, a modified tail wheel system and many other changes.
And, the side-by-side seating, instead of the instead of the J-3
Cub's tandem (fore and aft) seating, making it an excellent trainer.
The LSA (Light Sport Aircraft) segment of aviation is
exploding, with manufacturers rushing to bring planes to the
market. But, most of these aircraft are $80,000 or more, some
well over $100,000. That leaves the Sport Pilot on a budget with
limited choices. A classic tailwheel plane like this is a
perfect and economical alternative!
If your plan is to
get a Light Sport License and use it to fly around in your local
area to punch a few holes in the clouds, this may be the perfect
plane for you.
